MELBOURNE finally ended its road series hoodoo and did it in style with a sweep over Claxton Shield holders Brisbane.

Canberra continued to show off its powerful offence in a series win over Adelaide and Sydney topped Perth to leave the Heat stranded to the bottom of the ABL standings.

Hamburger with the lot

MELBOURNE starter Mark Hamburger pitched a complete game shutout and the Aces’ offence returned to form in a series-opening victory over Brisbane.

Hamburger struck out 12 hitters and allowed two hits without a walk in nine innings of dominance as Melbourne took a 1-0 series lead on the road for just the 13th time in 40 attempts.
