ADELAIDE, Canberra and Perth opened their home slates and for the Bite that meant a new ballpark at Adelaide Shores.

There was extra-innings, walk-offs, record scores, ballpark firsts and at the end of it a very tight ABL standings.

Round 2 preview: Aces @ Bite

MELBOURNE will look to create a slice of history and spoil Adelaide’s first home series at its new ballpark at Adelaide Shores.

Norwood Oval: Gone but not forgotten

NORWOOD Oval is a noticeable absentee from the Australian Baseball League “ballpark starting rotation” this season following Adelaide’s move to West Beach.

The home of baseball in SA since the 1950s has served up a number of gripping contests and fantastic plays in six seasons of the ABL and will forever hold a soft spot for many Bite fans.

What we learned from Opening Weekend

THE long wait for baseball to return is finally over and Opening Weekend is in the books.

Defending champion Brisbane started off where it finished last season, Melbourne showed it could be a bolter this season and Sydney recorded an impressive series win at home.

Opening weekend preview: Canberra @ Brisbane

TWO of the most potent offensive sides from a season ago will faceoff when Brisbane opens its ABL title defence against Canberra tonight.

The Cavalry (320 runs) and Bandits (300) scored more runs than any other sides during the regular season last season.
